CODEPINK: Women for Peace is a women-initiated grassroots peace
and social justice movement working to end the war in Iraq, stop new wars, and
redirect our resources into healthcare, education and other life-affirming
activities. We reject the Bush
administration's fear-based politics that justify violence, and instead call
for policies based on compassion, kindness and a commitment to international
law. With an emphasis on joy and humor, CODEPINK women and men
seek to activate, amplify and inspire a community of peacemakers through
creative campaigns and a commitment to non-violence.
The women of CODEPINK address serious issues in a
multitude of creative – and sometimes outrageous – ways, always bringing into
play the sensibilities of respect, compassion and interconnectedness. We have
redefined the color pink as one of power and action.
There are over 250 local chapters of CODEPINK throughout the country
and around the world. Through vigils, marches, rallies, non-violent civil
disobedience, concerts and art exhibits, many thousands of us have loudly
opposed the war and occupation in Iraq and have stood up for a variety of
issues at the intersection of peace and justice.
Join some of the country’s most creative and politically
active women as we tackle important needs in our communities and our
world. Help us protect civil liberties
and promote life-affirming economic polices.
Put on your pinkest, most powerful clothes and add
your voice to the growing chorus at one of our many actions.
